When to call us β immediately
If you are in any doubt, call us. It is always better to call and be reassured than to wait.
π΄ Call immediately β these are emergencies
Difficulty breathing, choking or turning blue
Collapse, inability to stand or sudden weakness
Suspected poisoning or eating something toxic
Seizure or convulsions
Severe trauma β road accident, fall, bite wound
Uncontrolled or severe bleeding
Bloated, distended abdomen with distress (GDV in dogs)
Straining to urinate with no output β especially cats (blocked bladder)
Eye injury or sudden change in vision
Loss of consciousness

Vomiting or diarrhoea more than once or twice
Not eating for more than 24 hours
Limping or sudden change in mobility
Significant change in behaviour or energy
Drinking or urinating much more or less than usual
Swelling, lump or wound that has appeared suddenly
Coughing, sneezing or discharge from eyes or nose
Scratching, head shaking or ear discomfort
Something just does not seem right β trust your instinct
